Are You Dressed For the Season?
“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.” Ephesians 6:13(NLT) Growing up my favorite season of the year was always the summer. Not because we got out of school for several months, although that was a definite plus. For me, this meant I had at least a month of gallivanting around in shorts and a t-shirt bathing in the hot sun on my granddaddy’s tobacco farm in Mullins, South Carolina, while enjoying a bottle of ice cold pop. Oh, how the smell of fireworks filled the…

The New Resolution
Welcome to the Year 2021 ! This is where you jump up and down in sheer excitement over leaving 2020 and its mayhem behind. But as you can see from the news concerning the continuing Covid-19 death toll raising and the unruly protest in our Nation’s capital, that we clearly did not leave everything in the past. In fact, I’m sure many of you probably even made New Year’s Resolutions to direct your focus in a positive light, but may I offer a suggestion instead . . . . Just Become Better! My challenge is simple. If we each strive to become better, then we will have done half the…

Will There Ever Be A Normal
After this year no will ever be able to say 2020 was a boring year. In fact it has been quite the opposite so far. This is the first time in known history where the world has had to work together on the same problem. That problem being the world pandemic Covid-19 or the Corona Virus. Only in movies and television shows have we seen the world locked down in a quarantine state such as we have these past eight weeks. Since the prophets of old like Daniel and John have we been so fascinated by post apocalyptic life and in some ways we have come very close to those…

In The Waiting Room With God
I do not like waiting rooms! Which should be of no surprise since we do live in a world of instant gratification. We want everything handed to us now and we don’t like to wait for it. The very thought of waiting in a “waiting room” is even beneath some of us. You come in with your insurance, you expect to be seen with no delays and get healed; but that is not quite the case. Today’s media has gotten us so fooled into believing that everything happens at this fast paced tempo that we start to treat everything in life like an In and Out Burger joint demanding immediate…

The Unmovable Rock
He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired,They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:29-31, NASB You’ve probably heard this story before, but I wanted to share it with you because I think it will speak to where we each are right now in life or will be at some point in our spiritual journey. There was once a man who was sleeping in…

In a Sinner’s Eyes
*This poem was written in 1996 and meant to be put with music. The sun shone brightly that afternoon high up in the Galilee sky Three sorrowful heads hung low that day for they knew this was their end As they nailed two of us to a tree hoisted above the world to see We had no remorse for the things we did For as we hung upon the cross, looking down the dusty road The one said to be the Messiah came struggling with his heavy load Then he stumbled to his knees His body aching, begging and pleading for this burden he could no longer bear Then they…

How Can I Help?
How Can I Help? *This is a reprint of an email sent on May 25, 2018 Hello Friends and Family, So, much has gone on here that I don’t even know where to begin. Since I touched down, it has truly been about acclimating myself to the surroundings and getting to know the people and the ministries the church here supports. And after two weeks, I haven’t touched the tip of the iceberg. This ministry is in need of so many hands and feet I cannot begin to understand how they do what they do apart from the work of the Holy Spirit. In the past week alone I’ve…

The Wrap Up
The Wrap Up *This is a reprint of an email sent on June 6, 2018 Greetings Friends and Family, I can’t believe it’s been three weeks already and now it’s time to start wrapping things up. In under a week from now, I’ll be heading back to the states to try and get used to regular life again. I can honestly say I have accomplished everything and more in this trip. The whole purpose for my being here was to experience life as a missionary and become acclimated to the ministry, while listening to the voice of God as to what should be my next move. This time He answered…

Celebrate the Lord
Celebrate the Lord! *This is a reprint of an email sent on May 29, 2018 Greetings Friends and Family, Let me first say thank you for all of your prayers this weekend. The Celebration Sunday went very well in the park. Despite how hot it was, the service was still well attended. I haven’t received the final numbers but there well over 1,000 plus people in attendance. The worship and the message were dynamic. People came to Christ for the first time. And Vienna Christian Center celebrated 30 years of God’s faithfulness to them as one body. I love how Pastor Melinda Henderson said it Sunday, “It’s like a…

Planting Seeds
Planting Seeds *This is a reprint of an email sent on May 14, 2018 Greetings Co-Laborers in the Faith, I hope you had a blessed Mother’s Day yesterday. It was an honor to pray with and celebrate with the mothers of VCC (Vienna Christian Center) but at the same time I was missing my own mother back in the USA. I hope you all took the time to honor and remember the women in your lives and for those who have lost your mothers. My heart goes out to you in sympathy and I pray the Holy Spirit continues to comfort you in your loss and challenges you to continue…
